Nonetheless, he “gave her a slice of ham,” but the dog “refused the 2nd one.” This was when he realized “something was up” since “dogs don’t refuse ham.”

Upon a closer look, Niall Harbison saw “1000s of little animals on her” and finally understood the gravity of the situation. He immediately arranged for the rescued dog‘s grooming and “luckily it was beside where Soi Dog were doing the sterilising.” Harbison highlighted the canine’s critical condition, claiming they had sedated her to make the grooming process easier. Moreover, they realized the extent of her “agony” after finding a severe parasite infestation all over her body and thousands of eggs.

Niall Harbison shared that they eventually took her in and gave her a proper wash and antibiotics. He named the rescued dog Butterscotch, who is now receiving treatment for her eyes and getting more tests done. Harbison believed she “will have blood parasites and anemia” and that she must be exhausted. He even shared an update on her current situation, writing “she is all wrapped up in her pyjamas with a cosy bed, pain killers and lots of nice food.”

Zeigler is facing animal abuse charges stemming from the case. Horus’ death occurred after an overnight shift with Lieutenant Zeigler. This is because of the deactivation of the vehicle’s AceK9 system, which was designed to protect him.

K-9 officer Horus died due to Missouri police officer’s negligence

Savannah Missouri Police Lieutenant Daniel R. Zeigler is facing animal abuse charges for causing K-9 officer Horus’ death on June 20. The German Shepherd’s death occurred in the early morning hours after the two partners ended an overnight shift. Zeigler reportedly contacted his Missouri Police Chief Dave Vincent just before 6:00 that morning to inform him of the dog’s death.

An investigation revealed that Lieutenant Zeigler had deactivated the police vehicle’s AceK9 system after the end of their shift at 4:49 a.m. The car is equipped with the system to protect the K-9 officers. Horus’ death was “directly” linked to the deactivation of the AceK9. A witness then heard Zeigler take responsibility for the dog’s death during the burial later that night.

Further findings revealed that the temperatures on the day Missouri police K-9 Horus died had reached a record high of 88 degrees. Investigators also tested the AceK9 in the vehicle Lieutenant Daniel R. Zeigler had driven that night. They confirmed the system “was in working order.” They determined that someone “would have had to have been manually turned off/deactivated on June 20, 2024.”

The statement concluded, “The deactivation of the AceK9 system directly contributed to the death of K-9 Horus by removing a safeguard to prevent such an incident.” Zeigler faces one count of misdemeanor animal abuse in light of the recent discoveries.

Missouri police K-9 Horus was nearly two years old when he joined the force in February 2021. The German Shepherd then trained alongside Daniel Zeigler, a low-ranking sergeant at the time, for eight weeks before they were “on the streets.” The police department had also announced that they had purchased Horus using community donations.

Radich and her pet Havanese Yana were walking outside her apartment building in Maryland’s Prince George’s County on August 31 when the robbery occurred. Two suspects, who Radich believed were either teens or kids, demanded she hand Yana to them.

Reportedly, Sophia Radich mentioned one of them was wearing a ski mask and thought they were “pulling a prank or something.” The masked individual unsuccessfully attempted to snatch Yana’s leash before pulling a gun to the dog owner’s head. Rodich claimed while keeping her at gunpoint, the suspect was “yanking her so hard that, like, it’s pulling on her neck.” The Maryland dog owner claimed her stolen dog is home “safe and sound” after the frightful incident.

Further describing the encounter, Sophia Radich claimed the masked suspect was then “carrying her [the dog], basically by her neck.” That’s when she let go of the least so Yana “wasn’t strangled.” Immediately after, Radich tried to call 911, but one of the robbers started to chase her. She claimed he was “on top of me trying to get my phone” but ran off after he fought back and called for help. The burglars eventually left in a black vehicle.

The stolen Maryland dog returned home to her owner on Sunday, September 1, afternoon after a tipster found her. The outlet stated that a man recognized Yana from her flyers after noticing her in Landover. Radich has thanked “everyone who was taking notice of all the signs and especially to the man who found her.”

Prince George’s County police confirmed that they are actively looking into the armed robbery incident.

Thousands of citizens and activists are protesting the new Turkish stray dog law and calling for legislators to rescind it. Last month, the country’s lawmakers approved the controversial legislation to eradicate the stray dog problem, citing safety issues. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan further stressed the importance of eradicating the “stray dog problem.”

Protestors gathered in Istanbul on Sunday in disagreement with the new Turkish stray dog law. Critics claim that it can result in the killings of the country’s millions of dogs. ABC News reported that one protestor, Hasan Kizilyatak, told the Associated Press, “We want this law to be withdrawn immediately.” Kizilyatak added that stray dogs “are living beings, just like us” and that the Turkish people are “against them being annihilated.”

Several others who appeared at the protest were supporters of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. One such individual, Ayten Arslan, claimed that they “are here for the stray animals” much like they “stood beside our president on July 15 (2016) when there was a coup attempt.” Arslan noted, “I say as an AK Party supporter, this law, is a bloody law.”

Reportedly, the Turkish government estimates at least four million stray dogs roam the country’s streets. They believe that while most of these dogs are harmless, the increasingly growing rate of strays has led to multiple attacks on people and children.

As part of the new Turkish law, municipalities will be required to collect strays from the streets. They will then house these dogs in shelters and vaccinate, neuter, and spay them before putting them up for adoption. The legislation allows the euthanization of those in pain, terminally ill, or a risk to humans.

A stray dog’s bizarre bus chase and subsequent heartwarming adoption has recently made headlines in Franklin County, Georgia. The canine was chasing a doggy daycare bus when the driver, Tyson Cash, noticed him. Thanks to Cash’s efforts, the stranded Labrador, now known as Waylon, found a new and loving home.

Tyson Cash, who runs the Keller Creek Boarding and Grooming, was on his morning rounds when a stray dog started chasing his doggy daycare bus. According to The Washington Post, Cash said that the stranded Labrador “wanted on the bus badly.” He added, “[The dog] was doing everything he could to get on with the other dogs.” Sadly, he couldn’t let the seemingly friendly dog on the bus.

Before that, Tyson Cash explained his unusual encounter with the stray Labrador who ended up chasing his daycare bus. He recalled picking up his canine clients on the morning of July 16 when he saw that Motley, a Labrador Retriever and his regular dog, had company. Cash claimed he had found Motley, who was waiting on his front porch with another pooch.

Confused, he contacted Motley’s owners to find out if they had adopted a new dog. However, the owners told him that they didn’t have a second dog. They then informed him about the stray dog that had been in the area, claiming that the residents had been taking care of him.

But that was not Tyson Cash’s only problem: the stray Labrador “wanted on the bus badly.” However, he explained he couldn’t let the stray on the bus as he “didn’t know about his vaccination status. I didn’t know if he was on flea and tick prevention.” Additionally, Cash said that he “didn’t want to jeopardize all the other dogs.”

Tyson Cash made the tough decision to drive off on the bus without the yellow canine. But, before leaving, he asked his wife to post a picture of the dog on their daycare’s Facebook page. Their attempt was to track down the owner. He then drove off, and that’s when the stray dog began chasing the doggy daycare bus in hopes of securing a ride with his fellow canine friend Motley.

Cash exclaimed that he “felt horrible about leaving him” and even posted a video of the Labrador chasing the bus on Facebook. He added, “I was concerned about him,” stating he would take the stray home if nobody came forward to claim him. Cash said he “would have figured out a way” to take care of him despite already having nine dogs.

The bus-chasing stray dog would finally find a home with one of Tyson Cash’s doggy daycare clients. Sadie Peace’s yellow Labrador, Nellie, frequented Cash’s Keller Creek Boarding and Grooming. When Peace saw Cash’s Facebook post, she decided to “reach out and see if anybody has a home for this dog.” She added, “If not, I want him,” explaining she “had been wanting a friend for Nellie.”

Peace later got in touch with a woman who had been housing the stray dog that chased down the doggy daycare bus. She learned that this woman had named the stray dog Waylon but couldn’t keep him any longer. The woman had to let him go because her two female dogs were in heat. However, Peace decided to continue calling him Waylon.

Waylon had been “roaming around for, I guess, weeks” when Tyson Cash found him. Sadie Peace revealed that the stray, who is about two to three years old, was in bad shape at the time. “All his ribs were showing,” “he had fleas and ticks all over him,” and “you could just tell he had not been taken care of very well,” added Peace.

Once Sadie Peace picked up Waylon, she took her to the vet, where they found he had a microchip. The microchip company did not reveal details about the dog’s previous owners, but the transfer of ownership was a success.

Waylon has now started a new life with his dog sibling Nellie. Peace stated that they “both sleep in bed with us every single night” and “are best friends.” She added, “They follow each other around everywhere.”

Additionally, Waylon’s story—from a stray chasing the daycare bus as a stray dog to formally boarding the same bus—is nothing short of a sensation. He has received all his vaccinations and participates in the Keller Creek daycare program at least once every week.

After the incident, Tom shared a video of him saving the helpless 14-year-old Great Pyrenees, Ivy, from the side of a river. Ivy had been stuck in the mud for days, unable to move her legs, when Tom rescued her on his canoe. He then took the dog back to her owners, Tom and Janine.

Tom Hudson posted a dramatic video on his YouTube channel What In The World of him rescuing a dog stuck under a log. The dog, a 14-year-old Great Pyrenees named Ivy, had been missing for a couple of days when he found her. Tom, an adventurer, was on a solo canoe trip across Canada when he stumbled upon Ivy. She was stuck in the mud on the side of a river and couldn’t move her legs.

After rescuing Ivy, Tom took her on his canoe, and the two began their journey to find her home. Fortunately, he brought her to the nearest dock, which belonged to Tom and Janine. The owner claimed Ivy had been gone for a couple of days and that had successfully searched for her in the nearby areas.

Tom Hudson explained to the owner how he rescued the shivering dog stuck under a log. He said that he found her half-submerged in water and half in the murder. After reuniting with Ivy, her owners fed her food and water before washing her up. Tom later lent a hand in the proceedings and also met Ivy’s family, including her dog siblings.

When Tom found the dog stuck under the log, he believed she had been there for a couple of days. The YouTuber said the 14-year-old could not have lasted another day if he had not found and saved her. The owners told him their son, who works with horses, would come over to help tidy up Ivy.

The heroic rescue soon made world news. Tom claimed in the video that, luckily, he was at the right place at the right time for his chance encounter with Ivy.

A Rhode Island senior dog rescue found at least seven chunks of rat poison scattered on their fences. Vintage Pet Rescue, a non-profit organization in Foster that helps senior dogs find loving homes, claimed the “weird and unnerving” incident left them “horrified.” During the ordeal at the rescue, the owners found a young puppy named Bug chewing on something that resembled the poison. A subsequent trip to a veterinarian saved his life.

Vintage Pet Rescue founder Kristen Peralta exclusively spoke to People Magazine regarding the rat poison situation at their senior dog rescue. Peralta stated they found pieces of bright red rat poison scattered across the compound’s fences on July 29. She found the first piece that morning while “on the way to bring four dogs to the vet.” By then, the rescue, housing 32 dogs, had led all the furry friends outside in the fenced yards. She then explained that the substance had a “Play-Doh-like texture.”

Kristen Peralta said, “We have a volunteer who comes in the morning to let the dogs out in the backyard. I think it was right around 10:00 a.m. I saw this chunk outside the front door, just a weird red thing on our fence. And I was just like, ‘What is that?'” She added, “I had no idea what it was, and I just threw it out.”

The senior dog rescue then found a second piece of the same substance and shortly after, learned it was rat poison. The second piece still had the wrapper around it. Peralta claimed, “Half an hour later, I went to the other gate to grab dogs to go to the vet, and that’s when I noticed the second piece that actually had the label on it. At that point, I looked and saw it said right on it that it was rat poison.”

Kristen Peralta revealed how she soon found “three other big chunks” after a quick search of the rescue’s compound of rat poison nearby. Someone had placed all these pieces of rat poison on top of the rescue’s fences. Meanwhile, Peralta’s husband, who runs the Vintage Pet Rescue with her, found a five-year-old puppy, Bug, chewing on a piece.

The husband rushed Bug to a veterinarian and they reached about 45 minutes after the puppy consumed the poison. There, with the veterinarian’s assistance, the five-year-old vomited the rat poison and started immediate medication for full recovery.

Back at the Vintage Pet Rescue, Kristen Peralta and a volunteer continued the search for more poison. She said they “found seven big chunks” in total which were “all put on top of our fences.”

Peralta, petrified by the incident, believes it was a “threat” because “they put it [the rat poison] on top of the fences.” She exclaimed, “If they really wanted to hurt the dogs, they would’ve just thrown it over the fence into the grass.” Peralta added how they “never would’ve seen” the poison had it been in the grass. There, the rescue dogs “would’ve eaten it [the rat poison] without us knowing it was out there.”

As for Bug’s present situation, the senior dog rescue gave an update, claiming he is “doing great.” The founder shared, “Luckily, he’s one of our younger, healthier dogs. If this had happened to one of our dogs in kidney failure or liver failure, it could have killed them.”

Kristen Peralta also explained that they had “Bcameras outside our gates.” In addition, she said, “Unfortunately, they weren’t set to record. They were just the live view.” Following the unfortunate and cruel ordeal, the senior dog rescue did not have video footage to help authorities in an investigation. However, they have since installed six outdoor recording cameras, motion sensors, and floodlights.

Members of the organization claim they are now more aware of their surroundings and are taking proper precautions.
