TikTok user @nami_the_chocolate_lab recently shared a video of their chocolate Labrador Acadia, affectionately known as Cadie, receiving the surprise of her life when the owners introduced her to the family’s new labrador puppy and her lookalike, Nami. The video, captioned as “Puppy unboxing,” has already received over 5 million views.
In the viral video, Cadie excitedly enters the room to find a surprise box with a bow attached, indicating a gift. With her tail wagging, she opens the lid to find her new lookalike sibling, Nami. According to Newsweek’s report, the family had brought the 10-week-old English chocolate Labrador retriever. Both dogs became the best of friends immediately as they enjoyed each other’s company, wagging their tails. Furthermore, Cadie brought her toys to share with Nami.
The owner from Marin County, California, told Newsweek the story behind the surprise. They said, “We always knew we would get Cadie another sibling, but we wanted to wait until we were ready. After our other chocolate lab passed away about a year ago, Cadie seemed a little lonely. We thought getting her own puppy would be the perfect gift.”
Also, the owners revealed Cadie’s experience as a mother, having been part of a foster breeding program for service dogs. The owners were positive about her response to her new sibling’s arrival. They told the outlet, “Cadie was a great mom to her previous litters, so we knew she would be gentle and kind with our new puppy.”
The owners confessed that the bond is only growing stronger between the two siblings. They further noted that while Cadie is adjusting to having Nami around, the owners are positive about the two becoming best friends. Since the viral video, the TikTok user has shared several other videos of Cadie and Nami, showcasing their growing bond.
Cadie is a 7-year-old chocolate Labrador, named after the Acadia National Park. Meanwhile, Nami derives her name from “wave” in Japanese. The owners sought inspiration from a character from the TV show One Piece.
